01QSR & Restaurant

QSR and restaurant feasibility studies

Whether a restaurant concept fits the site: trade area, competition and projected sales.

02Who orders it

Who orders this study

  • An operator converting an existing restaurant building. You have a building in hand and want to know which concept fits the market and whether the drive-thru earns its keep.

  • An operator choosing between concepts. You want to know where the market is already crowded by food type and where there's room.

03Coverage

What the study covers

  • Concept fit. Whether the concept you have in mind fits this site and market.

  • Competition by food type. Restaurants near the site mapped by category, so you can see where it's crowded and where it isn't.

  • The drive-thru. Whether it will carry enough of the business to justify it, and for which concept.

  • Where customers come from. Who lives and works nearby, and what draws people to the area, such as employers and tourism.

  • Projected sales for this site. Not a brand average.

  • Two concepts, one building. A study can test more than one concept for the same site.

Companion piece, on request: a Market Opportunity summary showing saturation by food type, gaps in the market, and concepts that could fit the site.

04Questions

Questions the study answers

  • Is this the right concept for this site?
  • What could this restaurant do in annual sales?
  • Is the market already crowded with this type of food?
  • Will the drive-thru carry enough of the business to justify it?
  • Where are the customers coming from, and why are they in the area?
  • Which restaurants nearby are my real competition?
  • If this concept doesn't fit, what would?

05Before you start

What to have ready

To start

The site address, the concept or concepts you're considering, whether the drive-thru will be used and for which concept, and a few comparable restaurants.

Helpful

An as-built floor plan or site plan; sales from the restaurant now operating in the building, if it's a conversion; sales from comparable stores you or your partners run.

06FAQ

Common questions

What do you need to start?

The site, the concept, whether you'll use the drive-thru, and a few comparable restaurants. A floor plan and any existing sales at the building help.

How long does it take?

Within 10 business days of a complete intake.

What does it cost?

Quoted per study, based on the site and the number of concepts studied.

Can you study two concepts on the same site?

Yes.

Can you tell me what concept would work best here?

We can show where the market is crowded by food type, where there's room, and concepts that could fit the site, as a separate piece from the study.

Do I need my partners' sales numbers?

They help but aren't required. Sales from comparable stores you or your partners run bring the projection closer to how your operation actually performs.

07Background

We develop sites too.

Our founder has spent about eight years developing retail sites, with developments in more than 10 states. We write these studies the way we'd want one written for our own deal: plain numbers, no padding, and an honest answer when a site doesn't work.

08Process

How it works

  1. Intake.

Fill out a short online form about the site, the store, the budget and how you plan to finance it. You can save it and finish later.

  2. Quote.

We price each study individually, depending on the type of site, how much information is available and what's being built.

  3. Delivery.

You get the finished study within 10 business days of a complete intake.

A complete intake means every required item and any documents the study depends on have been received. The schedule and scope are confirmed in your signed proposal.

Based in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. We take on sites anywhere in the U.S.
